A longtime local news journalist is leaping into the world of national cable news.

Bob Brooks, a reporter and fill-in anchor for ABC’s Philadelphia affiliate WPVI, is joining the conservative cable news outlet Newsmax as an anchor and correspondent.

“Growing up in a small Pennsylvania town next to a family-owned farm to covering big stories in some of the nation’s largest cities, Bob has developed a reporter’s instinct about the news that’s important to Americans,” Newsmax programming chief Elliot Jacobson said in a statement.
